WACHS e-Ageing

Welcome to WACHS e-ageing

Periods of ill health or injury pose particular risks for older people. A failure to holistically assess and attend to an older person’s needs as they move through the health care system can lead to longer hospital stays, permanent loss in mental and physical capability and premature entry to residential care.

These self-directed learning packages are for health professionals in rural and remote health settings. They aim to provide a way of gaining a better understanding of the ageing process and how as health professionals we can improve the experience, journey and the care and services older people (and their family and carers) encounter as their health or care needs change.

The packages have been developed as part of the implementation strategy for the Aged Care Education Project, Education framework: Valuing Older People in rural and remote WA.

They have been endorsed by the WACHS Area Director Aged Care and have been funded through the Older Patient Initiative.
